Vagabondsamfundet - det sidste sikkerhedsnet

Abstract

Dansk version: Projektet er en undersøgelse af vagabondsamfundet, som vi karakteriserer som en subkultur, ved hjælp af Burmingham-skolens subkulturteori. Videre sætter vi det op i forhold til Erving Goffmans frontstage/backstage teori, med det formål at analysere deres interaktion internt og med det omkringliggende samfund. Derudover benytter vi Ferdinand Tönnies begreber Gemeinschaft og Gesellschaft, for at nå til en nuanceret forståelse af deres fællesskab. Metodisk benytter vi kvalitative informantinterviews for at opnå kendskab til vagabondernes ritualer, traditioner og omgangsform. Samt livsverdensinterviews for at få en dybere forståelse for, hvad det giver dem at være en del af dette samfund og hvilke årsager der ligger til grund for dette valg af livsstil.

English version: This project is a study of the Vagabond society, which we have characterized as a subculture by using the Birmingham-school’s theory of subcultures. We have further more used Erving Goffman’s theory on frontstage/backstage, with the purpose of analyzing their interactions internally and with the extern society. Moreover we have applied Ferdinand Tönnies concepts of Gemeinschaft and Gesellschaft on their society, in order to reach a deeper understanding of their society. Methodically we have used qualitative informant interviews with the purpose of describing the vagabonds rituals, traditions and social conventions. We have also used lifeworld interviews which give us an understanding of what they gain from being a part of this society and what have lead to their choice of life style.
