| Abstract: | The project investigates through which structures the construct of patriarchal power is manifested on screen, and how are they evident, according to psychoanalytic feminist film theories, when analyzing female representation and spectatorship. This is done, by applying the theory on to two films. The theories point towards the absolute absence and impossibility of a female spectator. Conclusive, the theories are applicable to films outside the Hollywood genre. Through criticism, it is shown that a female spectator is possible. |
